Neoregelia Antigone variegated

Neoregelia 'Antigone' is a decorative hybrid from the genus Neoregelia, named after the figure from Greek mythology – a nod to the elegant, almost dramatic coloration of this variety. It originates from horticultural breeding and combines typical features of South American bromeliads with intense color play. Neoregelia 'Antigone variegata' is a particularly striking, variegated form of the hybrid Neoregelia 'Antigone'. It combines the dramatic coloration of the original variety with cream to yellow leaf variegation, making it a true eye-catcher. Like many cultivated forms, it comes from the horticultural refinement of tropical American bromeliad species. Features: This variety forms a flat, spreading rosette with strong, elongated leaves. The leaves exhibit a striking variegation – usually with light yellow to cream-colored edges or stripes on a green background – combined with bright red, pink, or purple markings. The center of the rosette often turns intensely red during the flowering period. The small, violet-blue flowers appear in the water reservoir and tend to stay in the background. Care Instructions: Light: Bright to semi-shaded, filtered light is ideal – direct sunlight can cause leaf burns but also promotes coloration. Water: Regularly fill the center of the rosette with fresh water; keep the substrate slightly moist but permeable. Humidity: Medium to high (above 50%), occasionally mist in dry air.
